Whiteout

White.

I guess the colour (or rather the equal manifestation of all the colours on the spectrum) white can represent a lot of different things in different cultures and to different individuals. In Western societies it usually represents light, life, serenity, purity and new beginnings. A blank canvas. Although if over saturated, purity can quickly turn into cold, sterile and empty. In other cultures around the world it's often associated with death and mourning - where one life ends and another begins. East and West. Weddings and funerals. Life and Death. Yet still the one connecting factor in every culture is the idea of a new beginning. For me personally, this is the essence of what the concept of white is, a new beginning, a cleansing of sorts. Maybe it's because I was born right at the beginning of a new year, or because I was born in Finland during the winter, but white is and always will be my favourite colour. It's when I feel most confident, probably knowing that white compliments every skin tone, hair colour and style. The one problem I have with white is that I like chocolate. I whole lotta chocolate. And red wine. And coffee. And red lipstick. Catch my drift?

City Flat Interior Inspiration

Like I mentioned a few posts back, a little under a month ago I took a step into the unknown - I moved in with my boyfriend. Eeks, this is the first time I'm living mano-a-mano with a boy, so naturally I'm slightly terrified. But also really happy. Mostly happy. But also little terrified. Anyway, it's also the first time in a very long time that I have the opportunity to have any sort of influence over what type of furniture and decorations we'll have in our little love chill nest, which is exciting news isn't it! Never before in my brief Pinterest lifetime have I been using search terms like "shower room inspiration" or "kitchen counter decor". This new opportunity is opening my world to an entirely new world filled with women who know A LOT about sink taps, among other highly useful things.

Some of the things I've collected here are slightly out of my budget or otherwise just not achievable (hello, floor windows) and obviously everything in our teeny tiny flat will have to be made in smaller scale but hey, what's a girl without her dreams, eh? Also as some of you might have noticed I've added the "Pin" functionality to my blog, so if you like what you see on any of my posts from hence forward, you can Pin the images straight to your own Pinterest boards by hovering over the photo! You can follow me here, make sure you leave a comment somewhere so I can follow you back! :>

Looking at these pictures it's quite obvious I like a mix of cool Scandinavian, romantic French and classic American. Sounds a bit like how I would describe my taste in clothes as well! Crazy what you can learn about yourself on Pinterest. It's so therapeutic.

The Weekender

Had a a lovely weekend, everyone? I did too, thanks, but I can't believe it's Monday, again. Last week was so busy at work that when I finally got home each day, I just crashed out of exhaustion. Needless to say that Friday was very welcomed when it finally arrived. Luckily last week wasn't 100% all work and no play - I met up with a few friends that I haven't seen in tooooo loooong, and was so happy to hear all of their good news. I love the feeling of genuinely feeling happy for someone who has achieved & gained something they wanted for so long, and worked hard to get it. Big ups for love! I personally managed to not do anything. I guess that's an achievement in itself? As far as weekends go, I've shifted away from the "party-all-night-until-they-kick-us-out-knifeparty-jams-all-night-long" and blossomed into the "netflix-all-night-in-my-jammies-with-my-boo-and-a-cuppa-wine-with-crisps-and-ice-cream-straigh-outta-the-tub", which is absolutely brilliant. I feel well grown-up.

To accompany my "hey, I'm relaxed, look at how relaxed I am" attitude, my weekend attires tend to be super relaxed. Think jeans, t-shirt and trainers. Sometimes it's nice to spice things up a bit however, enter Le Jumpsuit. The Little Black Jumpsuit is the Little Black Dress' slightly cooler little sister, but just as important and versatile in your wardrobe. Much like the LBD, the LBJ is always stylish, chic and super easy to dress up or down, depending on your situation. I bought this jumpsuit from Topshop about a year ago, and seriously regret not getting it in multiple colours. It's fitted with bones on the top, making your waist look more tiny, and the relaxed bottom with pockets creates a nice balance. Paired with trainers and a 3/4 sleeve leather jacket, it's easy-chic-on-the-go ready. Accentuate the waist with a thin, metallic belt and paint your lips with your favourite lipstick!

About a Boy

London. Just in time before my 4th anniversary of first stepping my foot into this land of tea and biscuits with my two heavily over-flowing suitcases back in September 2011, I've taken it upon myself to move house, again. 4 years, 5 addresses later, this can only be classified as #londonproblems. If everything goes according to plan I will be residing in this address for hopefully at least until my years spent in London catch up with the number of different addresses I've lived in during that period. The reason for me moving house again is to (ta-daa!) move in with A BOY. Rewind a year back and if you'd told me that a year from now I'll be abandoning my "I'm an independent woman/I don't need a man/No Scrubs" Beyonce/The Pussycat Dolls/TLC number to move in with A BOY - I probably would've asked if you were taking the hobbits to Isengard. But here we are, and I couldn't be more excited/scared (scared mostly because this means I have to share my closet space...) to be moving in with my bestest, best friend.

Also, just as the weather had convinced everyone that the autumn is truly and fully upon us, the sun came out, which meant last few chances to capture late summer outfits, as seen below. The top is suuuuch a gorgeous colour, and in general I'm a big fan of scuba fabrics. Used here for a feminine peplum shape, I like the sport-luxe, feminine-masculine feeling. Overall this was very girly of me, very unlike me to combine puprle, pink and blush in the same outfit but here we go, and I quite liked the outcome.
